THE REAL YELLOWSTONE™

THE SAILE FAMILY &
ROCKIN' HK OUTFITTERS
Yellowstone by Horseback, Family, and TraditionA founding cultural partner preview for THE REAL YELLOWSTONE™
THE REAL YELLOWSTONE™ (TRY) is a cinematic storytelling and live gathering series preserving the hidden culture, people, and human ecosystems that shaped Yellowstone from the inside.Through documentary film, firsthand storytelling, archival imagery, and immersive gatherings, the project helps carry forward a disappearing piece of American cultural history.
Some Yellowstone stories are carried through uniforms, some through family businesses, some through old photographs, and some through horses, mules, camps, trails, and the people who still know how to move through the backcountry with care. The Saile Family and Rockin’ HK Outfitters represent one of those living Yellowstone traditions.
YELLOWSTONE TO THEIR CORE
For more than two decades, Kipp Saile, Heidi Saile, and Rockin’ HK Outfitters have carried forward a deeply rooted Yellowstone backcountry tradition centered around horses, mules, stewardship, family, and low-impact travel through one of America’s most extraordinary landscapes.Operating in and around Yellowstone since the early 2000s, the Rockin’ HK team has built their life around the rhythms of the backcountry and the belief that Yellowstone is best experienced slowly — through horsemanship, respect for the land, and a deep connection to the animals and traditions that make this way of life possible.Their horses and mules are not simply working animals, but trusted companions and essential members of the operation. The knowledge and ethics that guide Rockin’ HK have been shaped through generations of Yellowstone outfitting culture and a commitment to protecting the resource while helping others experience the park in an authentic and meaningful way.Today, Kipp, Heidi and their children Scarlette, Wilson and Wyatt continue to work the business, carrying forward a Yellowstone lifestyle and backcountry culture that remains an important part of the larger human ecosystem THE REAL YELLOWSTONE™ exists to preserve and share.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO
THE REAL YELLOWSTONE
THE REAL YELLOWSTONE™ is built around the interconnected human ecosystems that shaped Yellowstone from the inside — rangers, outfitters, concessioners, gateway communities, families, guides, and the people whose lives became deeply tied to the park. The Saile Family and Rockin’ HK belong naturally inside that story. The horse and mule tradition is not simply recreation. It is a way of knowing the land, respecting the resource, teaching others how to move through wild country, and carrying forward skills and values that were often learned through experience rather than written down.
THE FILM AND THE LIVE GATHERINGS
As THE REAL YELLOWSTONE™ moves toward its first film and live gathering experiences, Rockin’ HK offers a powerful living thread within the larger Yellowstone story. The vision is to include Kipp, his family, the horses, and the Rockin’ HK way of life within the 2026 introductory film and expand that presence in the larger 2027 seasonal film and gathering experience. This would not be treated as a commercial or advertisement. It would be part of the story — a real Yellowstone ecosystem, carried by people who have lived it.
